Leave Policy
Version: 1.0
Effective: 1 July 2026
Owner: Jodie Bricout, Chief Strategy and Commercial Officer
Leave entitlements are set by the National Employment Standards (NES) under the Fair Work Act 2009. This policy summarises those entitlements and Adelitics' approach to applying them. The NES always prevails if there is any inconsistency.
1. Purpose
Adelitics Pty Ltd (ACN 665 405 569) recognises that people need time away from work for rest, personal matters and unexpected circumstances. This policy explains your leave entitlements and how to access them.
2. Who This Applies To
All Adelitics employees and directors.
3. Leave Entitlements Summary

4. Gifts and Hospitality
4.1 Accrual and taking leave
Annual leave accrues at the rate of four weeks per year, progressively throughout the year, from Day 1 of employment.
You should discuss and agree planned leave with your manager as early as practicable. Adelitics will not unreasonably refuse a request for annual leave.
4.2 Leave at end of fixed-term employment
Any accrued but untaken annual leave will be paid out at the end of your employment, including at the end of a fixed-term contract.
4.3 Annual leave during notice
Annual leave may be taken during a notice period by agreement between you and Adelitics.
5. Personal and Carer's Leave
5.1 When you can use it
Personal leave covers:
-
Your own illness or injury (sick leave)
-
Caring for a member of your immediate family or household who is ill, injured or requires urgent care
5.2 Notification
Notify your manager as early as possible, ideally before your normal start time. Where your absence extends beyond three days, Adelitics may request a medical certificate or statutory declaration.
5.3 Accrual
Personal leave accrues at 10 days per year of service, progressively. Unused personal leave accumulates from year to year. It is not paid out on termination.
6. Compassionate Leave
You are entitled to two days paid compassionate leave on the death of an immediate family or household member, or when a member of your immediate family or household sustains a life-threatening illness or injury. Immediate family includes a spouse or de facto partner, child, parent, grandparent, grandchild or sibling (or equivalent for a spouse or de facto partner).
Where circumstances require additional time, you may request additional unpaid leave or use annual leave by agreement.
7. Parental Leave
Employees with 12 months' continuous service are entitled to up to 12 months' unpaid parental leave, with a right to request a further 12 months. Government-funded Paid Parental Leave schemes operate independently of this entitlement.
If you are expecting a child or planning adoption, speak to Jodie Bricout as early as possible to plan the arrangement.
8. Long Service Leave
Long service leave in South Australia is governed by the Long Service Leave Act 1987 (SA). The entitlement arises after 10 years of continuous service with Adelitics.
9. Family and Domestic Violence Leave
All employees are entitled to 10 days paid family and domestic violence leave per year from Day 1 of employment. This leave can be used to attend legal proceedings, access support services, arrange safety measures, or deal with matters arising from domestic violence. The full 10 days is available at the start of each 12-month period and is not accrued progressively.
Details of leave taken for this reason are treated with the strictest confidentiality.
10. Requesting Leave
All leave requests should be made to your direct manager and recorded in Adelitics' payroll system (Xero). For planned absences, request leave as early as practicable. For unplanned absences, notify your manager as soon as possible on the first day of absence.
11. Public Holidays
Employees are entitled to paid public holidays on days declared as public holidays in South Australia. Where you are required to work on a public holiday, you will be compensated in accordance with your employment agreement or applicable modern award.
